Specialty & Enrichment Courses

Remedial Socialization Group Class

The Remedial Socialization program is designed for dogs over 14 months of age who struggle in a variety of social environments. This can include (but is definitely not limited to) reactivity on leash, lack of confidence, and difficulty coping in over stimulating environments, The small class size allows for each dog to be kept below their personal threshold in order to allow them to improve at a pace that works for them. Utilizing enrichment and different errorless learning methods, we will focus on offering alternative behaviours, reading our dogs, and find the coping skills that work best for each dog while building trusting relationships and learning how best to support and advocate for them. There is no off leash time in this class. Ever.

Class Limit: 4 (no exceptions)
Prerequisite: Private Assessment encouraged
Gear required: Back clip harness, muzzle if bite risk, standard 6' leash

These group classes are only offered Spring through Fall
Duration: 4 weekly 1 hour classes
Cost: $200.00

Scent Work

During these courses we introduce our dogs to all the fun of following their noses in an environment focused on enriching our relationships with our dogs. These classes are not competitive in nature, and the goal is always fun first.
Dogs who have completed these classes have progressed to human trailing, hunting, and allergen detection work.

Introductory - we build a positive association and drive to locate the wintergreen scent. We develop search patterns, handling, reading our dogs, and indicators. The last week we have a fun contraband style search where the class is welcome to work either independently, or as a team.

Intermediate -  continues to develop and fine tune search patterns, accuracy, and indicators. We will introduce a second scent (lavender) to encourage discrimination. Contraband searches are weekly (skill development followed by application), with a full facility search the final week.

Prerequisite: An established reward marker - any previous positive reinforcement class
Gear required: Standard leash, back clip harness

Duration: 4 weekly 1 hour classes
Cost: $200.00
